In this tutorial you will show each ad only to the people it suits, at the right time. You need WB Ad Manager, the free plugin. It takes about 5 minutes. Four steps. Set Display Rules. Set Visitor Conditions. Set a Schedule. Then hide ads where they do not belong. The best ad is one a reader cares about. The wrong ad at the wrong time only annoys them. Show each ad only to the people and the pages it suits, and readers click more, so you earn more. Step one. Set Display Rules. On an ad, Display Rules choose the pages it may appear on, by post type, category or tag. A coffee ad can then show only on posts a coffee lover reads. Step two. Set Visitor Conditions. These pick who sees the ad, for example only visitors who are logged out. A membership ad suits logged out visitors. Members already have one. Step three. Set a Schedule. Start Date and End Date run a campaign for a single season. Days of Week and Time of Day limit it further, for an offer that only holds in the evening. Session Limit stops one reader seeing the same ad too often. Step four. Hide ads where they do not belong. In Settings, Disable for Logged-in Users hides every ad from your members. Disable for Admins keeps ads off your own screen. Disable on Post Types turns them off on pages or media. Maximum Ads Per Page caps the total, so a page never feels crowded. That is all four. set Display Rules, then set Visitor Conditions, then set a Schedule, then hide ads where they do not belong. You can now do this job on your own site. Next in this series: Show different ads by device and country.
